Stephanie found herself in a bind today while I was flying (not an uncommon occurrence.) My Dad came through in a pinch, as he always does and inspired Stephanie to pen this Blog entry:
Husband/Father/Grandfather/Hero: As the Fighter Pilot flies his sorties , sometimes (lots of time) things at home go wrong. Today was one of those day's, our dryer went out. As many of you know, a family of five can produce a lot of laundry! When Dad's away Grandpa comes to the rescue, and today he brought a family friend, Hal Martin(both pictured in our driveway). Jim Sr. and Hal showed up with a replacement dryer and helped me move the old one to the garage while young Jim was flying BFM sorties with Ferris at the Guard. Jim's dad is very traditional - - the men take care of the women! A Colorado native, die hard Marine, and best known to his grandchildren as Baba. He has no limits when it comes to his family - - they always come first! Jim's dad will soon be having heart surgery, but a steam roller couldn't slow him down. Don't tell the man he can't do something, because Jim got his stubbornness from his father! The qualities this man posseses are all the same ones Jim exemplifies in this Blog and are consistent with the Crossfit Warrior Spirit! Hooyah! - Stephanie
I could go on about my Dad - but Stephanie's post says a lot. Suffice to say he is my Hero!
On the Crossfit front on Tuesday the Evergreen Freshman Football team excelled in a Crossfit Cougar circuit I developed for them. For the rest of us Crossfitters - here is what we have to look forward to on Wednesday:
"Nancy" - Videos: Nancy...[wmv] [mov]
Five rounds for time of:
- 400 meter run
- 95 pound Overhead squat, 15 reps
3 comments:
First time ever doing "Nancy" The weather was perfect in Massachusetts for a run, so our gym brought all the equipment needed outside.
Total time - 17:47 with 45lb OHS (I got the fastest female time and was placed 2nd overall)
Sandra - you continue to amaze! Robbie has taken a break and admits you could crush him in Crossfit!
Jim - now I have to admit, the comment you just made about Robbie produced the biggest grin on my face. We just might have to put that to the test one day! But keep in mind, my instructors are ALL about form and he would have to perfect his form to match mine...
Game is ON!
