Ah, Drill Weekend. Yes, in the Air National Guard Drill Weekend happens every month of our lives. The name weekend warrior came from the fact that we have a UTA (stands for Unit Training Assembly) once a month. For many of our traditional gaurdsmen this and deployments are the time that they work for the military. As fighter pilots, those of us that are traditional guardsmen put in 6-12 days per month in order to meet all of our training and proficiency requirments. Realistically its more of a half-time job than a part-time job. Drill is always fun for me becasue it is one of the rare times where we are all together!
We had a great welcome home party last night and our sincere gratitude goes to Fig and Sarah for hosting the event! Thank you to our all of friends that made it out for the event!
Yesterday Willy O and I tore up the Crossfit workout of the day and this monring Ringer joined me in the Redeye Squadron Gym for our own custom Crossfit workout. One of our troops, Denise Gilbert, got promoted to Chief Sergeant today! Making Chief signifies the highest enlisted rank and is a huge accomplishment - way to go Denise (pictured).
We also got to fly another training sortie in support of our newest LT - Josh Burger (pictured on the far left side of the van.) I am still getting accustomed to seeing guys in green flight suits instead of their desert garb.
Lastly today I want to update the infamous Stinky Cheese science fair entry. Jonah took FIRST PLACE in the microbiology division and his project was taken to another school today to compete within the entire district. Way to go Jonah!
