Tuesday February 5, 2008 - Crossfit Origins

This morning Stephanie and I did one of the Crossfit Balad circuits created by Juan - "Thundercats" : Four rounds of one minute each of

Hanging Crunch
Bench Dips
Plank
Kettle Bell Swings
Burpee Pullups

Stephanie fared quite well and I need to get back to the type of intensity I had in the desert - but it was great to be able to duplicate the circuit at home.

Later we traveled to Greeley, Colorado to visit with Eric Garretson. Eric is my best friend from high school and provided my initial impetus for Crossfit. He is truly a crossfit addict. Crossfit literally changed his life and he trains several clients from the crossfit gym in his garage! He constructed his own pullup racks and plyo boxes. He had enough material for 4 plyo boxes and consequently gave me 2! One will go to the squadron and one in my home gym!

He ensured me the solid, slanted sides will prevent injuries like the one Robby sustained in Balad. Eric said that as you "dig" into the Crossfit website and forums you can truly find anything and everything you need for crossfit - to suit any budget!

Thanks again, Eric!
