While my home will always be in Colorado, Delta's home is definitely in Atlanta! I was an instructor here for 3 years and make annual trips back to "Delta Mecca" for training. The good news is that Atlanta is a pretty cool city. The bad news is that the airport and the Delta training center are located in a real armpit called Virginia Avenue (picture coming soon.) This locale sometimes tests my Wisdom of the Warrior Principle of having a positive outlook regardless of the environment.
This morning I was awakened by the entire ceiling of the lobby of the luxurious (NOT) Comfort Inn Virginia Avenue collapsing under the weight of a broken sign and tons of water. Not long after that I was seated comfortably in the Delta training center learning about the systems of the Boeing 767. I have been paired with a great training partner - Captain Rob Parsons (pictured coming soon.) We spend a week in the fixed trainers learning systems and switches, a week in a simulator of procedures, a week in a simulator of maneuvers and emergencies, and a week in the simulator of line oriented check ride scenarios. Rest assured your families are safe traveling on Delta!
Evening finds me doing yesterday and today's Crossfit WOD's in a small local gym on Virginia Avenue.
Here is a cool article on Nugget's Carmelo Anthony's workout designed by a trainer I respect: Steve Hess.
