Tuesday July 16, 2009 - Man Down!





We sustained a fitness injury yesterday and have to ship Pyro to Germany for medical evaluation. Please keep John "Pyro" Stevenson in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Pyro's injury causes a pause for a few words on SAFETY. Pyro was not doing Crossfit when he tore his pectoral muscle, he was doing heavy bench with the King of Bench: Ike. Pyro is a go-getter and while we can never be sure of how he was injured, he had pushed himself to his physical limit several days in a row and then blew out a pec on the bench press. I would never shy away from high intensity exercise (read CROSSFIT,) but we all need to learn to listen to and respect our bodies. Crossfit embodies the following 3 principles in order:
1) Proper Mechanics
2) Execute with Consistency
3) Up the Intensity

Following a great custom WOD on Monday we constructed the human pyramid and then caught a little pool volleyall. Our Monday WOD: (max rounds in 20 minutes)
15 Hang Cleans (115#)
10 Knees to Elbows
05 Burpees
